Upholstery cleaning in Raleigh is the deep-extraction process that lifts dust, body oils, pine pollen, and embedded stains from the fabric of sofas, sectionals, loveseats, and chairs. Hot-water injection under pressure pulls out contaminants that vacuuming alone cannot reach, restoring the original feel and color of the upholstery. Raleigh homes face heavy spring pollen seasons and humid summers that accelerate dust mite populations in fabric, which is why we recommend professional cleaning every six to twelve months across Cary, Apex, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Wake Forest.

Expert upholstery cleaning in Raleigh

Deep, eco-safe couch, sofa, and furniture cleaning in Raleigh for homes, offices, and commercial spaces.

  • We read the cleaning code first

Every fabric carries a W, S, WS, or X care code. We clean W and WS with moisture-controlled extraction, and decline S (solvent-only) and X (vacuum-only) rather than risk the fabric.

  • Advanced hot-water extraction

Deep cleaning lifts embedded dirt, allergens, and odors from furniture and carpets.

  • We verify the fiber, not just the tag

Care codes are printed on almost everything, even synthetics, so we confirm the actual fiber and run a hidden-spot colorfast test. High-risk viscose and silk blends we will honestly decline if water would ruin them.

  • Transparent, upfront pricing

Clear pricing with no hidden fees. You always know what to expect before we begin.

Aclean Steamers has been cleaning upholstery across the Triangle since 2022, with hundreds of completed jobs in Cary, Apex, Durham, and Wake Forest.

We check the W/S/WS/X care code and verify the actual fiber, because codes are printed on almost everything. We never trust the tag alone.

A hidden-spot test confirms no dye bleed, ring, or texture change before we clean the whole piece.

Moisture-controlled extraction

We avoid over-wetting and extract thoroughly, which helps prevent browning, water rings, and shrinkage.

Honest about high-risk fabric

If a fabric is too risky (silk, viscose, code S or X, very old or fraying), we tell you and decline rather than gamble.

Built on experience, driven by excellence in Raleigh

Sergio Semeniuk

Founder

Raleigh upholstery has its own pace. North Hills condos, Five Points duplexes, and Cameron Village townhouses lean on sectionals and loveseats as their main seating. We see those pieces absorb daily use, summer humidity, body oils, pet dander, and pollen that no vacuum will ever lift on its own. We treat each piece with a method matched to its fabric and condition, and because Raleigh water is moderately hard, we rinse the cleaning solution fully out so no mineral or detergent residue stays behind to stiffen the weave or speed up re-soiling. We will not leave until the cushion is fully dried.

I cleaned my first sofa in 2012 in Kyiv. After ten years and a place among the top three furniture cleaning companies in the city, I moved to North Carolina in 2022 and brought the same standards with me. Every job in Raleigh starts with a fabric inspection. I keep the 14-day re-clean guarantee in writing because I believe you should not pay twice for the same work.

Aclean Steamers technician with professional commercial-grade cleaning equipment

Most cleaning companies rent their gear from the hardware store. We don't. Every job runs on commercial-grade equipment built for daily professional use, with the method matched to the material: hot-water extraction for carpet and upholstery, controlled low-moisture cleaning for mattresses, and hand cleaning and conditioning for leather. The same professional setup we've used since 2012, maintained weekly, calibrated for every fabric type.

How we clean upholstery in Raleigh

Code and fiber-aware, colorfast-tested, moisture-controlled hot water extraction. Not dry cleaning, and never over-wet.

  1. 1

    Inspect and read the code

We identify the fabric and read its cleaning code (W, S, WS, X), checking the actual fiber, not just the tag.

  2. 2

    Colorfast test

We test a hidden spot first to confirm there is no dye bleed, ring, or texture change.

  3. 3

    Dry-vacuum

We vacuum out loose soil, dust, and pet hair before any liquid.

  4. 4

    Pre-spray and spot-treat

Pre-treatment with enzyme for pet, protein, and food, plus a stronger agent on high-contact zones like armrests.

  5. 5

    Moisture-controlled extraction

We clean with controlled-moisture hot water extraction and deliberately avoid over-wetting. Delicate fabrics like linen get less water and a cooler solution.

  6. 6

    Rinse, no residue

We rinse the cleaning agent back out so no residue is left behind, because residue makes fabric re-soil faster.

  7. 7

    Dry and finish

We extract the moisture and speed-dry with air movers, about 4 to 8 hours with a fan. Optional Scotchgard, deodorizer, or anti-allergen goes on last.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about professional upholstery and carpet cleaning in Raleigh.

How much does professional upholstery cleaning cost?

Sofa cleaning starts at $200, which is our service minimum across all upholstery work. Pricing scales with the piece: an armchair or single loveseat sits at the lower end, a three-seat couch in the middle, and a large sectional toward the top. The price you get over text or phone is the price on the door. No surprise fees if we find extra stains on arrival, no upcharge if the fabric turns out heavier than expected. Specialty fabrics like velvet, silk, and linen carry their own published rates because they need different methods.

How long until I can sit on my couch after cleaning?

Without added airflow, upholstery air-dries in up to 24 hours, longer in humidity. Our quick-dry add-on with high-velocity air movers brings that down to about 4 to 8 hours. Either way, the fabric is dry to the touch before we drive off, so light contact is fine almost immediately. Heavy use, sleeping, or pets piling on the cushions should wait until the upholstery is fully dry through the back of the cushion. Delicate, low-moisture jobs dry faster.

What do the W, S, WS, and X tags on my furniture mean?

Those are the manufacturer cleaning codes. W means water-based cleaning is safe, so we use moisture-controlled hot-water extraction. WS means either water or solvent works. S means solvent-only, and X means vacuum-only with no liquids at all. We clean W and WS in your home, and we decline S and X rather than risk damaging the fabric. Because the code is printed on almost every piece, even synthetics, we also confirm the actual fiber and run a hidden-spot colorfast test before we start.

Do you clean sectional couches and large sofas?

Yes. Sectionals are one of our most common jobs and there is no size limit. We price by the seat or section, so a three-piece sectional is treated as three separate units. U-shaped, L-shaped, and modular sectionals all fit the same approach. The technician arrives with enough equipment runtime to handle any sectional in one visit, no second trip required. If your sectional has detachable cushions, we clean both sides of every cushion plus the deck underneath. Same applies to oversized sofas, three-seaters with chaise extensions, and curved sofas.

Do you offer same-day sofa cleaning?

Yes, when our schedule has room. Same-day slots fill quickly, so calling first thing in the morning gives the best chance. Friday afternoons and Saturdays book out earliest, especially during humid months when allergens flare up. If we cannot fit you today, next-day is almost always available. Some clients book a few days out specifically to lock in their preferred arrival window. There is no rush fee for same-day work. Same flat-rate pricing, same 14-day re-clean guarantee, same technician standard.

Why is a sectional more than an armchair?

We price upholstery by the seat or section, so the more there is to clean, the more the job costs. An armchair is a single seat. A sectional can be five, six, or more, and a chaise counts as two because of its length. More fabric and more cushions mean more cleaning solution, more extraction passes, and more time on site, plus both sides of every loose cushion. You get the exact price over text or phone before we start, and it does not change once we arrive.

Do you reach Cary, Apex, Durham, and Chapel Hill for upholstery cleaning?

Yes. Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, Morrisville, Durham, and Chapel Hill are routine service areas for us, with the same flat-rate pricing as central Raleigh and no travel surcharge within the Triangle metro. For Garner, Knightdale, and homes farther than 30 minutes from RDU, mention the address when booking and we will confirm scheduling at the time of quote. Same-day service is available when our schedule allows, especially for fresh pet accidents.

How long does professional sofa or couch cleaning take?

Most single pieces take 60 to 90 minutes for the cleaning itself, plus a short walkthrough and setup before we start. A sectional or a full living room of furniture runs closer to two or three hours. We always book a 60-minute arrival window so you know exactly when the technician shows up, and we text a tighter ETA on the day. Pet odor treatment and quick-dry add-ons run alongside the main job rather than adding a second visit, so plan for a single afternoon at most.

Can you clean velvet, silk, and other delicate fabrics?

Yes. We work with every fabric type we encounter, including velvet, silk, linen, microsuede, and chenille. Each one has a separate published rate because the cleaning method changes. Velvet takes a low-moisture pile-lifting approach so the nap stays upright. Silk gets cold-water hand-cleaning, never hot extraction. Linen we test for colorfastness on a hidden corner before any treatment touches the visible surface. If the tag says "dry clean only" we let you know upfront. We do not offer in-home dry cleaning, but most fabric tagged that way can be safely steam-cleaned with the right technique.

Can you remove pet urine and pet stains from upholstery?

Yes. Pet stains and pet odor are a routine add-on to upholstery cleaning, not a separate service. We use a two-step enzymatic treatment that breaks down the urine at the source, then steam-extract the fabric to lift it out. For older accidents where urine has soaked through into the padding, we apply the treatment directly to the affected layer and let it dwell before extraction. Most jobs come out cleanly with no lingering smell. Severe contamination on light fabric can sometimes leave a faint shadow, and we tell you upfront if we see one before starting.

What equipment do you use for upholstery cleaning?

We use professional portable hot-water extraction. The system heats water under pressure, injects it into the fabric, and immediately extracts it along with the suspended soil. This pulls embedded dirt out of the fibers rather than just rinsing the surface, which is the difference between professional steam cleaning and the rental units you can pick up at a hardware store. For delicate fabrics we switch to a low-moisture encapsulation system that uses minimal water. Both systems travel in our service van and run off our own power and water, so all you need to provide is access to the room.

Do I need to move furniture or prepare the room?

Light prep helps. We ask you to vacuum the piece briefly the day before if possible, or just clear loose pet hair off the cushions. Small side tables, lamps, and floor clutter should be moved away from the couch so the technician has working space. Heavy items, larger furniture pieces, and anything you cannot lift, we move ourselves and put back when we finish. Detachable cushions stay attached, cushion covers stay on. We bring drop cloths to protect adjacent hardwood or carpet. You do not need to be present for the entire cleaning, but someone should be home at start and finish.

Can you get cat urine smell out of a sofa?

Often yes. We use a two-step enzymatic treatment that breaks down the urine at its source rather than masking it, then clean the fabric with controlled moisture. For surface accidents and fresh ones, the smell usually clears completely. The honest caveat is depth: if cat urine has soaked down into the cushion core or the frame, surface cleaning will not reach all of it and some odor can linger. We treat the affected layer directly and let it dwell, and we tell you upfront when an accident looks deep enough that we cannot promise it comes out fully.

Why does Raleigh upholstery need cleaning more often than other regions?

Triangle homes face heavy pine pollen seasons in spring and high humidity from June through September. Pine pollen is sticky and settles deep into fabric pores where household vacuums cannot reach it, and humid summer air accelerates dust mite populations that feed on body oils and dead skin in upholstered furniture. National service intervals of every twenty-four months are too long for Raleigh. Professional cleaning every six to twelve months is the right cadence for Triangle homes.
